Fiona Robinson's Kaijsa

For my friends near and far, old and new, who haven’t heard the news from FaceBook yet, we wanted to send out the news of the latest and last addition to the Robison family.

A little less than a year ago, after debating for some time, we decided that our family wasn’t complete and even though my age placed me in the geriatric pregnancy category, we decided that one more baby was desirable to complete our family. So a month later I was expecting our 8th.  I then proceeded with the easiest pregnancy I have ever had. The 9 months went by very quickly with little fan fare and with a mom who was able to fully participate in life rather than lying on the couch as I have been forced to do in previous times.   My March 29th due date was looming, as was my March 25th birthday and I really had hopes of having this baby at the considerably younger age of 43. I had high hopes, but as the dawn of March 24 appeared and I hadn’t gone into labor in the night as I have done in the past, I began to give up hope of having this baby before my birthday. But, because I had convinced myself that it wasn’t going to happen, it did at at 10:15 p.m. , the eve of my 44th birthday, Clayne caught our brand new baby… surprise…..drumroll…..GIRL!

We had opted not to find out the gender just to add excitement and intrigue and fun conversations and I have to confess while early on, pre-conception even, I was convinced we would have a girl, I had settled in my mind that it would likely be a boy and that that was likely a good thing as my nearly 2 year old is also a boy. But in our hearts, we really did want one more girl, so it was with great joy that we welcome this little darling into our home.  I was also grateful not to have to choose yet another boy name, as even after 9 months, I still did not know what we would call a boy. But a girl, we knew a long time ago what we wanted to call her. In fact it was the discovery of one of her names that I helped me decide to have a baby at all. It was one of those names that just came to me out of the blue and I knew I loved it. The name is Monet. (mon-ay) It fit all our criteria, having an N, being a real name, but not a common one, coming from another country, etc. etc. The girls and I have called her Monet from the beginning of the pregnancy.   As we were talking about what other name to use, Clayne reminded me of a name we’ve dreamed of using for years. In my family history we have several ancestors from Sweden with the name of Kajsa or Cajsa. In Swedish, the j creates an “I” sound, as I understand it, but knowing that no one would have any idea what to do with that, we decided to anglicize it a bit and change it to Kaijsa.  While it does not have the required N, it flows better as a first name, so Kaijsa Monet is her name. And knowing us, she’ll go by both names as we love them both too much to just call her one. At some point she can choose, like our 2 year old who answers not only to Ammon or Quin, but his nickname Doobie as well.

We are happy and excited to welcome one more of Heavenly Father’s spirit children into our home and are grateful that it all has been such an easy, pleasant experience.
